As part of celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Oneworld alliance has unveiled its first-ever fully branded European lounge for the world to see. The lounge itself is located in Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
oneworld: The world’s leading airline alliance
The oneworld Alliance is a premium airline alliance where member airlines band together to deliver a consistent and seamless travel experience for frequent flyers. Frequent flyerscano earn rewards and benefits for flying with member airlines. These include earning and redeeming flight miles and points across the alliance network.
Those with top-tier statuses – Emerald and Sapphire cardholders – can enjoy premium lounge access across various airport lounges worldwide. It’s safe to say that the oneworld Alliance is an incredibly important aspect of the frequent flyer, especially those who enjoy a bit of luxury travel. Airline members include British Airways, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, Iberia, Japan Airlines, Finnair, and many more.
The Alliance recently launched its first-ever premium lounge at Incheon International Airport in Seoul in January, and despite only being open for a short period, it has completely redefined the premium travel experience.
A Luxury Aesthetic
In a similar fashion to their first lounge in Seoul, the Amsterdam lounge boasts a luxury aesthetic with designs inspired by the city of Amsterdam itself. These include things such as tailor-made lighting pieces that were inspired by the spherical lights on the city’s iconic arched canal bridges. This arched aesthetic can also be seen in the entryway to the lounge.
Jochem Straatman, D/DOCK Art Director, stated:
“We have delivered a contemporary, premium lounge experience with typologies, fittings and furnishings that pay homage to life in the Netherlands. The lounge experience makes travel simple, relaxing and enjoyable. While this and the Incheon lounge have their own distinct identity, both share the same unique oneworld look and feel, creating a sense of familiarity across our lounges.”
At 473 square meters, the lounge is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and refuel, with a wide variety of seating options in a spacious, bright, and contemporary setting. If you’re afraid of time slipping away from you whilst relaxing in the lounge, have no fear as it is conveniently located no more than 10 minutes away from the departure gates. No more last-minute rushing or missing your flights!
The new lounge is now open daily between 5:30 am and 10:00 pm for customers who hold Emerald and Sapphire statuses and depart from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol outside the Schengen area on flights with partnership airlines. Furthermore, the lounge will also be available for those flying either First or Business Class with member airlines.
