Ryanair announced on Wednesday, Dec. 17, that it will open a new, two-aircraft base in Rabat (RBA), Morocco, from April 2026, adding 20 new routes for the summer. The new base represents a $200 million investment by the low-cost airline, and comes as Morocco prepares to co-host the 2030 World Cup with Portugal and Spain, demanding more air connectivity.
Ryanair’s investment in Morocco
Adding 20 new routes, seven international flights connect Rabat to European cities. Mainly, Milan Bergamo (BGY) and Pisa (PSA) in Italy; Baden-Baden (FKB), Frankfurt Hahn (FRA), and Nuremberg (NUE) in Germany; Porto (OPO) in Portugal; and Valencia (VLC) in Spain.
According to Ryanair, the base in Rabat will create over 800 local jobs, including 60 highly paid positions for pilots and cabin crew.
Ryanair’s CEO, Eddie Wilson, said in a statement:
“Our latest base opening takes Ryanair’s total investment in Morocco to over US$1.6bn, supporting over 8,500 direct and indirect jobs and delivering growth in the local tourism economy.”
The new base will be Ryanair’s fifth in the country and will increase the airline’s capacity in Rabat by 45% in the summer of 2026.
Scheduled to fly across 13 Moroccan airports that season, Ryanair expects to transport a record number of 10.7 million passengers to and from Morocco.
“Together we will continue to develop Morocco’s infrastructure, connectivity and tourism in advance of the Kingdom’s co-hosting of the 2030 World Cup, all of which will be underpinned and stimulated by Ryanair’s legendary low fares and industry leading punctuality,” Wilson added.
Ryanair also announced it would mark the base opening with a seat sale on its app, with prices starting at 319 Moroccan dirhams ($35) for travel until May 31.
