City breaks are more popular now than ever before, as full-time workers make the most of annual leave and long weekends. In response, Jet2 and Jet2holidays have expanded their range of European flights—giving you even more ways to explore the world, one city at a time. From iconic capital cities to little-known coastal gems, how many of these destinations have you ticked off your bucket list?

Sunbathe in Historic Charm: Jerez and Pula

The beginning of May saw Jet2 flights take off to 2 brand new destinations: Spain’s Jerez de la Frontera, and Croatia’s Pula. Customers onboard these opening flights were met with a VIP welcome, receiving vouchers upon boarding as a celebration of the new routes.

Jerez sits in the increasingly popular province of Cádiz, where travellers can admire the 11th century Moorish fortress, or sample sherry in the the heart of the Spanish ‘Sherry Triangle’. Pula is also famed for historical sites, as travellers can enjoy gazing upon Istrian Roman ruins, or strolling through the city’s protected harbour. Jet2 passengers can choose to fly from Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds Bradford or Stansted Airport to visit the city in Costa de la Luz. Those wishing to visit Pula can fly from East Midlands, Manchester, Birmingham or London Stansted.

Popular Flights Increase: More Chances to Visit Your Favourite City

On May 1, 2025, Jet2CityBreaks announced their plans to expand their portfolio of European destinations. The expansion sees new and increased routes across a plethora of European hotspots, including Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Switzerland. Jet2 also recently announced a new route from Bristol to Kalamata, and continues to expand their range of European destinations.

Following strong customer demand, Jet2 has made it possible to visit Murcia year-round, providing flights across all seasons via Alicante Airport. Similarly, those heading to Braga, Portugal can enjoy an extension of flights into Summer of 2026 via Porto Airport. Jet2CityBreaks offer a range of 4 and 5 star hotels as well as flights, making it easier than ever to arrange your weekend travels.

Those looking to get away this winter can look forward to new city break packages to the stunning lakes of Geneva or the historic centre of Salzburg. Geneva has been famed for its beauty for centuries, the stunning landscape inspiring the works of Romantic poets such as Byron. Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, holds a similar charm, the Salzach river decorated with buildings of medieval and Baroque architecture.

Jet2CityBreaks combines Jet2 operated flights with a package deal including a hotel, 22kg of free hold luggage and 10kg of cabin baggage, taking some of the stress of planning away so that you can enjoy your time sightseeing.

Commenting on the rise of the city-break, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2Holidays, Steve Heapy, said:

“We are seeing strong demand for city breaks for this year and next, so we have responded by expanding our Jet2CityBreaks portfolio. The introduction of four new city break destinations, Murcia and Braga, as well as putting packages on sale to Geneva and Salzburg means we are offering customers and independent travel agents a fantastic selection of cultural hotspots to choose from. As the largest operator of European city breaks, we know that today’s announcement will be welcome news to customers looking to enjoy a city break escape no matter what time of the year.”

Are you the type of traveller to squeeze a city break into your weekend? Or are you in it for the long-haul, backpacking for weeks on end? We’d love to hear from you below!
