The New Route to Southeast Asia

The new route is set to commence on Oct. 25, 2026, ahead of the 2026-27 Winter season. The route operates year-round and will be offered every day of the week excluding Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tickets are now available for booking on this route. The flight leaving from Frankfurt is scheduled for departure at 9:30 p.m. and lands in Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon at 4:30 p.m. local time. The return flight leaving from Kuala Lumpur departs at 11:55 p.m., and arrives in Frankfurt at 6:00 a.m. the following day. Both flights are scheduled at times that maximise connectivity to Lufthansa’s global network.

“With the new nonstop connection to Kuala Lumpur and the deployment of our state-of-the-art Dreamliner, we are creating ideal conditions to participate in the growth in Southeast Asia,” says Jens Ritter, the CEO of Lufthansa Airlines.

The economical long-haul aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, will be operating on this route with its 287 seats spanning three classes. The 787-9 aircraft seems to be in high demand, as Lufthansa is looking to add more of these fuel-efficient jets to their fleet by 2027.

Experiencing Malaysia as a Travel Destination for Business and Leisure

Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, is an attractive destination for tourists and business professionals alike. In 2025 alone, the country saw over 42 million visitors, making it Southeast Asia’s most popular destination. As over 700 German companies are based in Malaysia, this route provides convenience for business travelers. Adding to their existing operations in Southeast Asia, this new route will join Bangkok, Phuket, and Singapore in the list of destinations that are just one nonstop flight away from Germany.

“The innovative Allegris cabin offers our guests the highest level of comfort and underscores our premium aspiration to offer both leisure and business travelers a first-class travel experience,” Ritter says.

The new Allegris cabin is designed to maximise the comfort of long-haul passengers across all classes, providing a pleasant travel experience. Lufthansa Group has invested a staggering 2.5 billion euros into the Allegris product, and it is already in use on flights connecting Germany to the rest of the world.
