Lufthansa’s first Airbus A350-1000 has arrived from the paint shop in Toulouse, wearing the airline’s special 100th-anniversary livery. In the next few weeks, the aircraft will be added to Lufthansa’s special anniversary fleet.
Lufthansa’s 100th anniversary celebrations continue
The eye-catching design features the airline’s iconic white crane sweeping across the rear fuselage, along with the lettering “1926 | 2026” and “100”. A total of 432 litres of blue paint and 246 litres of white paint were used. This design matches the celebratory livery already carried by several aircraft in the airline’s anniversary fleet. These include a Boeing 787-9, an Airbus A350-900, an Airbus A380, a Boeing 747-8, and selected narrowbody aircraft.
The A350-1000 will bear the registration number D-AIFA and the name “Deutschland” and will be the 700th aircraft delivered by Airbus to the Lufthansa Group.
Lufthansa’s Airbus A350-1000 is scheduled to be transferred from Toulouse to Munich this fall. Until then, the aircraft will undergo several test flights, further interior work, and a final acceptance inspection before it is used commercially.
Lufthansa’s New Flagship Fleet
Following delivery from Airbus, D-AIFA will be based at Munich Airport, where it will operate alongside Lufthansa’s existing Airbus A350-900 fleet.
Lufthansa has ordered 15 Airbus A350-1000s, with options for a further 25 aircraft, which will be delivered by 2030. The A350-1000 type will become the airline’s new flagship on many long-haul routes and is expected to feature Lufthansa’s latest Allegris premium cabin products throughout.
The Airbus A350-1000 is seven metres longer than the A350-900 and can accommodate 300 passengers across four travel classes: First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class.
The new A350-1000 is the seventh aircraft in the Lufthansa fleet to feature the special livery commemorating the airline’s 100th anniversary.
