The German airline, Lufthansa, is marking the 100th anniversary of their founding with a fundamental redesign of the onboard experience. The 70 million euros investment will bring more comfort, flexibility, and the unique Lufthansa Signature Moments to long-haul flights starting Spring 2026.

Overhauling the in-flight experience.

Lufthansa has taken steps towards modernising airline travel by introducing the Boeing 787-9 and the Airbus A350-900 into their fleet, as well as launching their in-flight product: Allegris.

FOX is more than a cosmetic refresh, all service elements and processes on board Lufthansa airline flights are being revised, enhancing the entire travel experience on long-haul flights in Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First Class, on aircraft with and without Allegris.

Debuting in Spring 2026, Lufthansa will launch their onboard travel ‘FOX’, short for Future Onboard Experience, which is set to redefine flying on long-haul routes and underline Lufthansa’s premium claim: more space, more free baggage, more service. The initiative also promises to bring more individuality, comfort and what the airline calls ‘Lufthansa Signature Moments’ to all four travel classes.

Jens Ritter, CEO of Lufthansa Airlines has said:

“We are investing over 70 million euros in our new Future Onboard Experience in the next twelve months alone. We are thus investing in a top premium product, in the satisfaction of our guests and in the future of our airline.

With more individuality, greater comfort and extraordinary Lufthansa Signature Moments, we are building on what has always characterized us over the past 100 years: being an attentive and unique host above the clouds.”

Individuality, Comfort and Lufthansa Signature Moments

FOX also stands for the fulfilment of individual wishes, comfort and the unmistakable Lufthansa hospitality above the clouds. Passengers will have more opportunity to shape their own flight experience.

In Business Class, guest will be able to choose their second meal, a varied selection of savoury and sweet dishes, snacks and hot meals flexibly, when it suits them.

Economy and Premium Economy Class passengers will be able to choose from three meal options instead of two.

FOX also introduces high-quality amenities, upgraded textiles and redesigned tableware across all classes. Blending modern aesthetics with functional elegance.

An outstanding feature of FOX is creating special and unforgettable moments. FOX will further enhance the quality of the Lufthansa travel experience. Passengers can immerse themselves in different worlds of pleasure created by top chefs.

Lufthansa’s Future Onboard Experience is set to debut in Spring 2026, as part of airline’s 100th year celebrations. While Allegris aircraft will be a key part of the rollout, FOX will also extend to long-haul planes that are not yet equipped with the new cabin.

With the airline preparing to mark their 100th year anniversary in the skies, FOX emphasises Lufthansa’s ongoing commitment to aviation innovation, hospitality and maintaining its position as a leader in premium air travel.
