Korean Air’s fleet capacity increases with the introduction of A350-900 Airbus aircraft. As it is, the airline is already integrating with Asiana Airlines to enhance its fleet capacity. Its operational range would increase connectivity not only on Seoul Incheon-Osaka and Seoul Incheon-Fukuoka routes, but also to European destinations.
Find out what prestige class A350-900 and economy class A350-900 offer its passengers.
What Does Korean Air Fleet Capacity Increase Mean?
The addition of the Airbus 350-900 would address the growing passenger demand. In 2019, the fleet capacity was at 169 going to 127 destinations with revenue passenger-kilometres (1 million/km) 83,273. As for capacity, the A350-900 Airbuses can accommodate 311 passengers with 28 prestige class seats and 283 economy class seats.
Firstly, the prestige class A350-900 features a 1-2-1 staggered configuration for unobstructed access to the aisle. The seats have bed mode and offer privacy and comfort. The seats also have an 18.5-inch display. In the economy class, the A350-900 features a 3-3-3 configuration with ergonomic seats to maximize personal space. The A350-900 is equipped with Panasonic’s eX3 entertainment system.
Further, an Airbus is a European aircraft based in Toulouse, France. An Airbus aircraft focuses more on automation systems. Automation is the utilization of different control systems and technologies that reduce the requirement of human interference. E.g., anti-skidding braking systems.
Environmentally Friendly A350-900
The A350 has esteemed highly fuel-efficient engines, Rolls Royce Trent XWB (Extra Wide Body) engines. The frame of the plane incorporates over 50% carbon composite material. Its wings swing, mimicking nature, hence are biomimetic. The wings are active twisting morphing (ATM) or raked allowing the biomimetic movement. Biomimetic wings minimize air resistance for stable flight operation. The quiet cabins of the aircraft reduce the noise by 4-6 decibels. Further, lower altitude pressure helps reduce fatigue among passengers.
Korean Air has a role in A350’s development. The cargo doors of the aircraft are manufactured by Korean Air.
The Routes enhancement of A350-900
The A350-900 aircraft is designed for long-haul operations, although they are versatile enough to run on regional routes. The first aircraft will operate on the Seoul Incheon-Osaka route twice daily and a second A350-900 will operate on the Seoul Incheon-Fukuoka route once daily from 27th January 2025. Initially, the A350-900 was deployed on short-haul routes to Japan. Moreover, the plane will operate on long-haul routes, including the destinations Madrid and Rome in the second half of the year.
The operational range exceeding 12,000 km allows these planes to fly to any European destination and most of the cities in North America.
Are you eager to plan a trip on these routes any sooner due to enhanced connectivity?
