This winter season, KLM’s winter network includes 164 global destinations. Passengers can enjoy additional seat capacity to winter holiday destinations along with the return of traditional routes within the winter schedule and the launch of KLM’s first Airbus A350.
More flights overall and the resumption of popular flight routes
This upcoming winter season, KLM is is increasing capacity on popular flight routes to continue to meet demand.
Across the Americas, there will be flights to Minneapolis and San Diego from KLM’s hub at Schiphol. Further south, flight services will include Panama City, with up to ten flights per week, and São Paulo will be served nine times a week this winter. Curaçao, a popular tourist destination within the Americas, will also be serviced nine times a week according to the winter network.
Within Northern Europe, KLM is adding an extra weekly flight service to both Rovaniemi and Kittilä. Within the rest of Europe, Florence and Basel will each be served by one extra daily flight.
KLM is not just expanding existing routes, but intends to resume flights to Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam from the start of the winter schedule. The exact timetable is highly dependent on the on-the-ground scenario in the Middle East.
KLM is also resuming flights to Kigali and Entebbe. The Entebbe service was previously temporarily removed due to Ebola-related risks. Insofar as Ebola-related travel and entry restrictions are fully lifted, the route will operate four times a week this winter.
KLM commits to customer comfort onboard and a renewed fleet
KLM is improving its travel experience this winter with an enhanced food and beverage selection with the introduction of Grand Café KLM. Meals can be pre-ordered and passengers can choose from a menu onboard. This way, KLM can better cater to the needs of passengers.
The capacity for Premium Comfort seats will also increase on intercontinental routes. With the Airbus A330 being phased out, flights to Aruba, Bonaire, Dammam, Riyadh and Miami will be serviced by Boeing aircraft this winter season.
KLM’s first A350 at Schiphol is associated with the renewal of its fleet. As the Airbus A350 is cleaner, quieter and more fuel-efficient than previous aircraft models, it makes a strong addition to KLM’s overall fleet.
In the short-term, the Airbus A350’s first commercial passenger flight will be to Toronto. The destination will be served 12 times a week, with five flights per week operated via the Airbus A350. As more Airbus A350’s join KLM’s fleet further into the winter season, these aircraft will be employed on services to Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Montreal, Nairobi and Zanzibar.
