Earlier this morning, an airbridge at Islamabad International Airport, Pakistan, collapsed, causing injury to a man. Airport officials say that aside the man injured (Bridge operator Mohammad Mudassir) by broken glass, there were no further injuries nor any damage to foreign aircraft parked at the gate at the time-  a Gulf Airline’s A330 operating flight GF771 between Islamabad and Bahrain. They further added that the cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.

Islamabad Airport, Pakistan, is a fairly new airport, which is designed as “Y” shape, includes 15 passenger boarding bridges, a passenger-friendly terminal, two runways, three taxiways along with facilities to accommodate two double-deck A380, as many as 15 remote bays and seven remote bays for small aircraft. The new airport is located 30km away from central Islamabad, with construction running between 2007-May 2018. The airport has only been open six months at present experiencing several hiccups since then.
