Hosted from Oct. 14-16 2025 by Xiamen Airlines in Xiamen, China, the International Air Transport Association announced that this year’s World Safety and Operations Conference will have a major focus on a safer future with aviation operations.

The conference is set to take place in Xiamen, China to highlight China’s important role in moulding a safer future for the rapid increase of technology advancement.

“China has built a strong safety record while making significant investments in new infrastructure and technology. Holding WSOC here is especially meaningful: it offers Chinese carriers a platform to share their experience in building safe and reliable operations” shares chairman of Xiamen Airlines, Zhao Dong

Aviation safety is the main focus for IATA and all airlines attending WSOC 2025, and with the conference held in China, it allows global expertise and China’s insight in bringing together a safer future for aviation.

IATA announced that the World Safety and Operations Conference focus will be aviation safety, and making the future safe for all in the air transport industry whilst technology continues to advance at its quick rate.

Topics to be covered include safely managing the increased lithium battery use brought aboard by passengers, such as Emirates’ recent prohibition of power banks on aircraft.

Other areas to be covered will include GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) interference in conflict zones, the improvement of accident reporting, managing spectrum integrity due to growing telecom needs, and more to create a safer future in aviation.

By addressing these and other issues today we’ll be better prepared to take on the challenges of the future,” said IATA’s Director General, Willie Walsh.
