Low-cost airlines Iberia and Iberia Express have been acknowledged as Europe’s most punctual airlines for 2024. Their pole positions in prompt arrival times, thanks to their total fleet of 165 aircraft, have given these airlines positive notoriety.

Positive Continuation in Punctuality and Operations

While Iberia and Iberia Express have been dubbed the most punctual, they have also been recognised for exceeding expectations in their operations standards. CEO of Iberia Express, Carlos Gómez, had this to say:

“This is one of the company’s achievements that we are most proud of because, on the one hand, it allows us to offer a good service to our customers and, on the other, it demonstrates the enormous degree of commitment of the entire Iberia Express team. My thanks to the crews and teams directly involved in the operation, also to all the people at Iberia Express and to the companies that have supported us throughout 2024 to reach this great milestone. We are operating more and more flights, but always trying to maintain a level of consistency and high standards of safety, efficiency and operational excellence to offer the best possible experience to our customers. At Iberia Express we have very important challenges ahead of us in the short, medium and long term, which we can only achieve by rowing all together in the same direction, which will surely lead us to revalidate these excellent figures achieved in 2024”

The previous nine years have been very successful for these airlines. Not only are they the most punctual airlines in Europe, however they have remained at the top of the podium in the list of the top 10 punctual airlines worldwide.

So What’s Next for These Low-Cost Airlines?

It’s clear that these airlines have had a turbulent year in facing tough challenges, an example of this being the limited availability of spare parts. Their business plans, however, remain one of their top priorities in terms of meeting their desired targets of excellent standards.

President of Iberia, Marco Sansavini, commented on the challenges, both previous and moving forwards:

“Punctuality is, without a doubt, the main attribute demanded by our customers and, therefore, we dedicate all our efforts to try to maintain the high standards achieved in recent years. We are very pleased with this recognition from Cirium, but our goal is to continue improving. It has been a complex year, full of disruptions, which has prevented us from reaching the quality standards that a company like ours is committed to offering its customers. In 2025, we are committed to making an even greater effort, to reviewing each of the processes and changing what is necessary to achieve excellence in punctuality. It is the wish of each and every one of Iberia’s 10,000 employees, pilots, TCPs, maintenance technicians, engineers and office staff, as well as colleagues at the airport, now belonging to South, IAG’s handling company”

It remains hopeful that these low-cost airlines will remain on track with exceeding their total number of 43,000 flights going into 2025.
