Resurgence and Passenger Growth in both Domestic and International Travel

From International Air Traffic Association (IATA) figures, April 2025 has seen busy air traffic — a 10.8% increase in international travel demand and 3.3% in domestic demand. A higher passenger demand is paired with a higher capacity as airlines implement strategic expansion plans to increase international connectivity, while levelling up the in-flight service at the same time.

The IATA forecasts a 6.7% annual increase in passenger numbers in global aviation compared to the previous year, accumulating to 5.2 billion passengers total in 2025.

Busiest Regions of Aviation

Comparing different regions in terms of passenger demand increase, Asia Pacific airlines have seen a 14.4% increase in passenger demand, the highest passenger growth among all global regions.

This is also reflected in the busiest air routes in the world last year, where a number of the top-ranking routes connect different major cities in the Asian Pacific region.

As summer is approaching, huge chances are that air traffic and passenger numbers will continue to rise in the coming months, bringing strong development to the global aviation industry, where airlines’ strategic expansion into new markets and routes will continue to bring further passenger growth with higher capacities.
