Places to visit in Guatemala City

Now that you’ve booked your flight to Guatemala City, you’re probably wondering which places to visit. Guatemala is known for its rich history, high-altitude location, and its volcanoes!
Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago of Guatemala

This beautiful Cathedral is located in the city centre at Parque Central.
The front of the Cathedral is decorated with a series of 12 pillars. The pillars are inscribed with the names of people killed during the Guatemalan Civil War.
Work on the Cathedral began in 1783 by engineer Joaquin de Isasi, architect Marco Ibanez and artist Antonio Bernasconi. Construction work on the castle ended in 1815 when the sculpture of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was transported in procession from Santa Rosa and was placed in the main altar of its new chapel in the Cathedral, where it has remained ever since.
Ciudad Nueva Ecological Park

The park is ideal for nature lovers who want to escape Guatemala City. The park provides peace and tranquillity to tourists who can enjoy outdoor trails and fantastic city views.
