Greater Bay Airlines (GBA)’s new direct flight route from Hong Kong to Zhangjiajie started service on 15 April. This new route increases connectivity between Hong Kong and the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, a UNESCO site famous for its breathtaking landforms. This new route brings increased connectivity, again, between Hong Kong and Chinese tourist hotspots.

New Routes, Increased Connectivity

Since starting service in July 2022, Greater Bay Airline has connected Hong Kong to multiple tourist spots in mainland China as well as other major cities in Asia. Following the announcement of a new flight route to Guilin in the morning on 15 April, the airline rode the momentum and announced the new Zhangjiajie route in the evening.

With these two additions, GBA now connects Hong Kong with 5 destinations in mainland China, including Zhoushan, Huangshan, Yichang, Guilin and Zhangjiajie.

Zhangjiajie is a renowned UNESCO site listed in 1992 in China that features breathtaking natural scenery including quartz stone pillars, formed by erosion.

Zhangjiajie: The Place That Inspired Avatar

Named after a local village, Zhangjiajie is famous for being the place that inspired Avatar, where its otherworldly scenery is transformed into the blockbuster’s setting. The landscape holds over 3,000 vertical stone pillars formed through erosion, decorated with natural vegetation.

The National Park also features the world’s tallest outdoor lift, the Bailong Lift. Be sure to check it out when visiting the area with GBA’s New Flight Route!
