Etihad Airways is facing a busy summer period as they expect more than seven million travellers to pass through the Zayed International Airport.

Guidance from the Airline

Etihad’s Director of Airport Operations, Shaeb Alnuaimi, has said:

“We are looking forward to hosting millions of guests at Zayed International Airport as they head off on their summer holidays, including those flying on our seasonal routes to Malaga, Antalya, Santorini, Nice, and Mykonos… At every stage of the journey, we’re focused on delivering the highest standards of safety, comfort, and service. Whether it’s our modern fleet, award-winning hospitality, or thoughtful travel experiences, our guests can expect a smooth and enjoyable journey from the moment they check in.”

During this busy summer period, the airline has some useful advice to help prepare their passengers for their travels. They urge passengers to:

  • Check flight information and updates– it’s essential to stay informed on everything that’s happening during such busy periods. The airline has said that passengers can access flight information through the Etihad website or via their mobile app. They will have access to flight details, their seats, as well as being able to access other services.
  • Check-in early- you can avoid queues by arriving at the airport, “4 hours before departure during peak periods”. Etihad has also given their passengers options to check-in online 30 hours before their departure, and use their self-service bag drops at the airport after they have checked-in.
  • Pre-purchased options– Etihad allows their passengers to pre-purchase travel options such as extra legroom, or purchasing access to their First and Business Class Lounges which are available for purchase up to 90 minutes before departure.
  • Check the baggage policy– Etihad airways permits 7kg of carry-on baggage, while First and Business Class passengers can bring up to 12kg. The cabin bags must not exceed required dimensions, and any additional baggage allowances can be purchased before departure. All information on their baggage policy and additional purchases can be found on the Etihad website.
  • US Pre-clearance facility– Any passengers travelling to US destinations must check in at least 4 hours before their flight. First and Business class passengers should arrive at the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Pre-clearance facility up to 90 minutes before their departure. While all other passengers should visit the facility up to two hours before their departure time.

With Etihad Airlines’ slow expansion, this advice for peak seasons can be the difference between a seamless or stressful journey for their passengers so they advise their guests to plan ahead and take advantage of their tools that Etihad has for their passengers.

We will never travel with Etihad again after the way in which we have been treated since booking and now with the War issues.
