If you are planning on travelling soon and are seeking options, Etihad’s latest offering may interest you. The Gulf carrier announced, yesterday, a 50% cash value on ticket vouchers bought between 10 and 24 June.

Vouchers are available in increments of $250 up to a maximum of $65 000. Customers can use the earned credit from the purchased vouchers on future flights, upgrades or extras. However, they can only redeem the cash bonus for travel after 1 August.

Etihad wants to give holidaymakers the “well-needed break” they deserve. It’s CCO, Robin Kamark, said: “Etihad Travel Voucher will give our guests plenty of time to plan their future trip.”

Travel restrictions are starting to ease, and demand is growing by the day. Airlines have recognised this opportunity and are offering incentives like voucher bonuses, discounted tickets and loyalty programme rewards to attract buyers.

Why Should You Care?

Given the current outlook of commercial aviation, things will only improve from here on out. There is no reason why you shouldn’t consider availing this offer. Especially if you are considering travelling to/from the Middle East, this is the perfect opportunity to subsidise your travel.

Furthermore, the cash reward will be applicable to travel from August and chances are that most flights will resume by then.

The only risk that remains, also pointed out by The Points Guy, is that you will be tied to the travel voucher (and cash reward) once you do go ahead with the purchase. You won’t be eligible for a cash refund if your flights end up getting cancelled. So choose wisely and only if you’re committed to travelling during the next few months.

Etihad, in the recent past, has offered flights to some unique destinations. Now, the airline is quickly ramping up its operations, after opening its Abu Dhabi hub to 20 destinations—to meet recovering travel demand.

Travellers can avail the offer by first signing up for Etihad Guest and then phoning Etihad Airways Contact Centre on (+971) 600 555 666 to purchase vouchers.
