The flights, from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) to Egypt’s El Alamein International Airport (DBB), will debut in July 2025. On sale now, they are scheduled to run twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.
Connecting Travellers from UAE and the Wider Region to Holiday Hotspot
The flights are set to connect travellers from the UAE and beyond to Egypt’s stunning Al Sahel region.
They will be operated using planes from Etihad’s Airbus A320 fleet which hold 8 seats in Business Class and 150 in Economy.
Regarding the announcement, Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways said:
We are excited to be adding El Alamein to our ever-growing list of destinations. El Alamein is the entry point to Egypt’s hidden gem, offering a mix of natural beauty and cultural history, and we are sure it will become a popular choice for guests seeking relaxation and adventure. This new route further underlines our commitment to providing exceptional travel experiences and expanding access to exciting new markets.”
This is the latest in several new routes announced by the airline. It has promised to release details of more new routes by the end of this year.
More about El Alamein
While international travellers to Egypt may be more familiar with the popular tourist resorts of Sharm-El-Sheikh and Hurghada, El Alamein, a gateway to the burgeoning North Coast, is becoming a popular destination for both history enthusiasts and beachgoers. Nestled on a stunning coastline, it is home to a museum commemorating two major battles that took place there during WWII.
In August of this year, occupancy rates in El Alamein’s hotels officially reached 100%, a sign of its growing popularity.
