In the lead-up to the Easter holidays, Bristol Airport (BRS) said about 150,000 passengers are expected to travel over the Easter weekend, with roughly 725,000 flying in the three weeks through April 19. Some of the busier flights will be coming from Italy, Portugal, Poland and Spain, according to a BRS spokesperson.

Keep Easter eggs close
The airport stated in preparation for the Easter rush:
“Those travelling with Easter eggs are advised to keep any chocolate treats in cabin baggage and make sure they are easily accessible as they may need to be opened for a quick check.”
These measures, alongside the airport’s new security terminals, should bring the queueing times down, according to a spokesperson from BRS.
BRS provides services for a range of people across South Wales and the Southwest of England, and with the Easter holidays, it expects an influx of customers.

Advice for passengers
BRS has issued advice for passengers flying in the Easter holidays:
- Up to two litres of liquids can be held in hand luggage. A clear plastic bag is not necessary.
- Shoes may be required to be taken off during scanning checks in the airport.
- Only essential items should be in a passenger’s hand luggage.
- Any coats, hats or belts will need to be put with their hand luggage when being scanned.
- If you use or bring a walking aid, wheelchair or pushchair, you should arrive with time for these to be searched.
- A private search has been offered upon the passenger’s request for those with medical conditions or disabilities, including hidden disabilities. The airport has also asked those passengers to mention this to staff prior to the screening.
- Children below 1 metre, or not able to hold themselves in the screening scanner, will be hand searched, but children who are able and 1 metre and above will be required to go through the security scanner.
BRS won’t be the only airport to face an influx over the Easter holidays. Across the UK, the volume of those flying to Portugal, Spain and other short-haul destinations is predicted to be high, especially in London based airports. BRS is one of many airports preparing for a busy holiday season.
