Discover Airlines has announced plans for its rollout of Airbus A350 routes in 2027 and 2028. The German carrier intends to deploy its first A350‑900 on a pre-established route from its base at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) to either Orlando International Airport (MCO) in Florida, or Calgary International Airport (YYC) in Canada. The aircraft will later be used on flights to Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) in Costa Rica, when Discover takes over the route from parent company Lufthansa.

Discover’s American Expansion
Discover Airlines has announced that its first Airbus A350-900 jet will join its fleet in June 2027.
The new aircraft will initially be used on high frequency short-haul routes, before its operations are expanded to include flights between FRA and either MCO or YYC.
The airline has said:
“both routes are well-suited for the introduction of the new aircraft type: they enable stable flight operations with minimal complexity, while also offering passengers a consistent flight experience.”
Discover Airlines is due to takeover Lufthansa’s FRA-SJC service on Dec. 14, 2027, the same month its second A350-900 is scheduled for delivery.
The airline has announced that it will operate six weekly flights to SJO, including two triangular services, which will also serve Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) in Belize.
SJO and BZE will add to Discover’s current network of ten North American and Caribbean destinations.

Modernising Discover’s Fleet
The arrival of the A350-900s form part of Discover’s wider fleet modernisation programme, which has been underway since the airline joined the Lufthansa Group in July 2021.
Discover recently retired its final A330-200 jet, and plans for A350 jets to gradually replace its 14 active A330-300s. Two A350-900 jets will arrive in 2027, followed by two more in summer 2028.
The airline expects to operate 20 long-haul aircraft by mid-2028, and has announced plans to order nine additional A350-900s, beyond the four already on firm order with Airbus.
