Do you like to be a little spontaneous when booking a flight? Are you as indecisive at booking flights as you are choosing your toppings at Taco Bell? Fear no more as Delta Air Lines have your back, my Gemini and Libra friends. Announced on Wednesday, Delta Air Lines have obliterated the same-day flight change fee! It’s now free to change your travel plans within the 24-hour window from your flight departing. What’s even better is that you can also standby for an alternative flight, fee-free too!

Delta Is Making Last Minute Travel Changes Easier & Cheaper

Flexibility has never been more important, which is why we want to give our customers more choice and control over their travel plans than ever before. By enabling same-day travel changes directly on the Fly Delta app, customers will also save valuable time rescheduling their plans while on the go, without waiting in line at the airport or calling Reservations. – Sandeep Dube, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Pricing and Revenue Management.

This policy change, in principle, is straightforward. You can change your flight booking within 24 hours of your original scheduled flight and book a flight departing the same day. You can make these changes through the Fly Delta app or Delta booking website.

So, You Can Fly Anywhere On A Free Same Day Flight Change? Not So Fast.

All good things have biblically long terms and conditions attached to them, and this policy change is no different. To access free same-day changes, you must be flying within the United States, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. If you plan to travel internationally or you have brought a basic economy fare, you’re out of luck this time. Furthermore, same-day fee-free changes are only available for Diamond, Platinum & Gold Medallion Members. Sorry to burst that bubble. But there’s still some hope as non-members can still swap flights for 75 USD.

The good news, no matter whether you’re a member or a non-member, same-day standby flights are complimentary. There’s little risk of being left stranded as Delta will keep your original seat until you are assigned a seat on an earlier flight.

Where would you go if you had a free flight swap to anywhere within the United States, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands? Let us know in the comments.
