Contour Airlines is launching its first fifth-freedom route, that connects Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) on the Island Dominica to the Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago. This is the first move for Contour Airlines to grow in the Caribbean market.
New Dominica-Trinidad flights strengthen Caribbean routes
The operations will start on Oct. 5, 2026 and will feature two weekly round trips. Flights will be operated by using 30-seat regional jet aircraft, and the debut is to help improve the connectivity for both residents and tourists across the Eastern Caribbean. The jets will be Embraer ERJ-135 and Contour will introduce a one stop, same plane service between four locations.
These locations are between San Juan Luis Munoz Marin in San Juan and Port of Spain as well as between St. Thomas Cyril E. King in St. Thomas. This will allow passengers to remain on board during the intermediate stop, to simplify the connections across the region. The Dominica-Trinidad sector represents Contour’s first fifth-freedom operation to carry passengers to two new Caribbean destinations to improve its international itinerary.
Contour Airlines continues Caribbean expansion
The flights will take off from St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands every Monday, and fly via Dominica to Port of Spain. The new route will provide faster travel options for business travellers, tourists and for the locals who already reside there. On Tuesdays, Contour will start from Port of Spain, stopping in Dominica on the way to San Juan in Puerto Rico.
Contour’s Caribbean expansion, began 2025, with services connecting Dominica to San Juan and St. Thomas. On Thursdays and Fridays it will make the round trip operating from San Juan via Dominica to Port of Spain and then from Port of Spain via St. Thomas to Dominica. President Ben Munson of Contour Airlines will make travel more convenient while supporting the economic and tourism for these islands in the Caribbean.
