The World Travel Awards have named Star Alliance the World’s Leading Airline Alliance for the fifth year. In addition to the alliance-level award, several Star Alliance member airlines also claimed individual victories this year, including World’s Leading Airline to North America, Asia, Africa, and South America.

What are the World Travel Awards?

The World Travel Awards 2024 were held at the Grand Final Gala Ceremony in Madeira, Portugal, on November 24, 2024. The elite of global tourism attended the large event.

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards aim to recognize, honor, and celebrate excellence in all major travel sectors. The Awards travel the globe during its Grand Tour, rewarding excellence across every continent. The winners then go up against each other in a grand final at the end of the year.

The heads of the travel industry attend the World Travel Awards, which are a key event. The event features a variety of awards, each representing a different sector of the travel industry. Qualified executives in the travel sector participate in a worldwide poll to select the winners.

Star Alliance

In 1997, Star Alliance emerged as the pioneer global aviation alliance, attracting members from America, Europe, and Asia. Today they have 25 airline members, who include many of the world’s top aviation companies. With over 50 global hubs, alliance members can come together to provide seamless connections across a global network.
Star Alliance has seen many successes this year.

In July 2024, the North America edition recognized Star Alliance’s Los Angeles Airport Lounge as North America’s Leading Airport Lounge for the fifth consecutive year. It shows Star Alliance’s leading airport hospitality and their dedication to providing comfort to their customers.

World Travel Awards 2024

Star Alliance has won the title of the World’s Leading Airline Alliance at the World Travel Awards. This award shows the alliance’s dedication to delivering seamless travel experiences to their customers.

Star Alliance CEO, Theo Panagiotoulias, expressed his gratitude for the recognition and award.

“We are incredibly honored to receive the title of the world’s leading airline alliance yet again.This enduring achievement reflects the collective dedication of Star Alliance and member airline employees and their commitment to delivering seamless travel experiences. We also extend our deepest thanks to our valued customers for their continued trust and support.”

Graham E. Cooke, the founder of the World Travel Awards, extended his congratulations to the alliance, stating,

“This outstanding accomplishment highlights how the organization is raising the bar in aviation alliances. Its dedication to providing customers with seamless journeys—from booking and airports to connections and loyalty—is unrivalled. The dedication of the entire Star Alliance team is inspiring.”

In addition to the alliance-level award, several Alliance member airlines also claimed individual victories this year, including World’s Leading Airline to North America, Asia, Africa, and South America. The alliance’s collective strength and dedication are evident in their outstanding achievements.
