Cathay Pacific has announced that they will resume non-stop flights to Adelaide, starting on November 11 2025. This is another step in the airline’s plans to expand their global network, offering direct flights to more worldwide destinations.

Welcome Back, Adelaide!

From November 11, Cathay Pacific will be operating flights from Hong Kong to Adelaide on a schedule of three times a week. The South Australian capital will be Cathay Pacific’s eighth destination in the Southwest Pacific, increasing global connectivity and providing a significant link between Asia and Oceania. These flights are in tandem with operations to Cairns and Christchurch, forming part of the carrier’s Winter seasonal services.

The Hong Kong-Adelaide service will be carried out using Cathay Pacific’s Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Flights from Hong Kong to Adelaide are expected to run on every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday; and flights from Adelaide to Hong Kong, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The resumption of this route between Hong Kong and Adelaide recommences an important tie between Asia and the Southwest Pacific – alongside offering an easy link for connecting flights. Cathay Pacific also offers year-round services between Hong Kong and Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.

Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer at Cathay Pacific, has stated:

“We are thrilled to be reconnecting our home hub with Adelaide, a bustling city that holds particular significance for Cathay Pacific. We first launched passenger flights to the South Australian capital in 1992, and then two years later our first batch of cadet pilots arrived in the city to complete their flight training, marking the start of our more than three-decade collaboration with Flight Training Adelaide.

With our return to Adelaide, we will be operating close to 90 return flights per week to eight destinations in the Southwest Pacific at the peak of this winter season, providing a great many choices for our customers travelling between the region and our home hub. Whether they are travelling for business, leisure or to visit friends and relatives, we look forward to welcoming customers onboard and experiencing our signature Cathay Pacific service.”

Cathay Pacific’s Other Developments

The continuation of flights from Hong Kong to Adelaide is part of Cathay Pacific’s aims to expand their route network. Cathay Pacific and low-cost carrier, HK Express, are adding sixteen destinations to their operations this year, and it is also expected that new flight routes will continue to be announced throughout the year.

Cathay Pacific has recently launched direct flights to Hyderabad, Dallas and Urumqi. Within the first half of 2025, the Cathay Group’s global network is set to reach one-hundred destinations around the world. The airline has scheduled flights for Rome (5 June), Munich (16 June), Brussels (3 August), and now Adelaide (11 November).
