Cathay Pacific’s lounge – The Bridge – at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has officially reopened, with new redesigned features and a residential ambiance. This redevelopment combines customer favourites and improved characteristics, marking Cathay Pacific’s first step in their lounge enhancement plan.

The Bridge – Redesigned

Located near Departure Gate 35 at HKIA‘s Terminal 1, The Bridge has reopened with a human-centric redesign that ensures customers are at the heart of the lounge. To further improve customer experience, The Bridge will soon be the first Cathay Pacific lounge to use a biometric check-in system that streamlines the check-in process.

The Bridge harmoniously combines a mix of bespoke Solo Chairs, cherry wood framed screens, carefully selected plants, original artworks, black granite, and travertine in its new redesign. This allows the lounge to follow Cathay Pacific’s award-winning ‘Gallery in the Skies’ concept, with the creation of a cohesive and harmonious environment.

The Bridge is divided into two sides – the left is focused on Chinese favourites and delicacies, and the right offers a range of international plates.

To the left, customers can eat at Cathay Pacific’s Noodle Bar that continues to serve signature dishes such as wonton, dan dan noodles, and dim sum. To complement these familiar favourites, new rotating menus with biangbiang mian, braised beef shin with cauliflower, salads, and desserts have been added. The left-hand side also features the brand-new concept of The Nook, where customers can order lighter plates of Chinese food, such as regional small plates of made-to-order savoury bao, crispy scallion pancakes, and steaming rice rolls.

The right-hand side’s Food Hall features international dishes, made with front-of-house ovens that go directly to customer’s plates. The menu offers hearty and comforting plates, including beef bourguignon and Provencal vegetable bakes casseroles, freshly baked pastries, salads, and desserts. Customers can also enjoy expertly crafted cocktails, barista coffees or a glass of Champagne at The Bar – all the while taking in the impressive panoramic views of the runway.

Guillaume Vivet, General Manager of Customer Experience Design, has said:

“Our goal was to create a space that feels genuinely welcoming — one that reflects our commitment to thoughtful, human-centric design. From the furniture and dining to the scent and music, every detail has been carefully considered to enhance comfort and contribute to a relaxed, refined atmosphere. The result is a space where customers can truly unwind – a retreat designed to enrich their journey and leave a lasting impression with every visit.”

Cathay’s Future Plans

Dedicated to the continuous improvement of customer experience, the redesign of The Bridge is the first step in Cathay Pacific’s lounge enhancement plan. The reopening of The Bridge has come just before the airline’s renovation of The Wing, First, at HKIA which is set to close on May 23 and reopen in 2026.

Following this, The Wing, Business and The Deck will also be redesigned and reopened. Eligible customers will be welcomed in both lounges alongside The Pier, First and The Pier, Business during the course of renovation.

Cathay Pacific also aims to launch new flagship lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing and, for the first time, New York over the next two years. These developments present the airline’s commitment to customer experience, and are part of the Cathay Group’s over HK$100 billion investment that will be dedicated to new aircraft, cabin products, lounges and digital innovations.
