AnimaWings will operate special flights between Bucharest, Iași and Cluj-Napoca during the Sports Festival 2026, taking place from June 11 to 14 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The airline is the official carrier partner of the event, which is expected to draw large crowds and includes the retirement match of Romanian tennis player Simona Halep.

Special flight schedule supports festival travel demand
To accommodate travel demand, AnimaWings will operate Bucharest–Cluj-Napoca flights on June 11, 12 and 13, with return services on June 14 and 15. An Iași–Cluj-Napoca–Iași rotation will also operate between June 13 and 15, providing a direct connection between the two cities during the festival period.
Sports Festival 2026 is expected to host more than 150,000 participants and will feature international athletes, sports demonstrations and community activities. This year’s programme also includes events marking Simona Halep’s retirement match and the “Nadia Comăneci Year”, celebrating 50 years since the gymnast’s perfect 10.

Airline and event partnership highlights
Organisers said the partnership aims to improve connectivity between Romanian cities during the event and support participation from across the country. AnimaWings stated that the special flights are intended to facilitate travel to Cluj-Napoca during the festival period, while Sports Festival organisers highlighted the role of improved transport links in expanding access to the event.
Passengers travelling on the dedicated flights will also be offered festival-themed onboard and on-site activations during the event period. Additional ticket packages combining flights and festival access are available through the airline’s channels.
