American Airlines Adds New Routes

American Airlines adds to its national network by expanding its Chicago hub (ORD) to Allentown, Pennsylvania (ABE), Columbia, South Carolina (CAE) and Kahului, Hawai’i (OGG) in 2026.

Launching from their Los Angeles hub (LAX), routes to Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. have also been introduced.

Last year, American Airlines launched 29 new destinations from its popular Chicago hub, including Naples, Italy, and has reiterated that these destinations will be returning to ORD for the summer season.

Arrivals to Pennsylvania and Colombia from Chicago will feature Embraer 170 aircraft, whilst Hawai’i from ORD will use a Boeing 787-8, and Ohio and Washington from LAX will use Boeing 737 aircraft.

American Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning, Brian Znotins, celebrates the addition of new routes from their popular hubs:

“American’s new routes from Chicago and Los Angeles are just another way the airline is catering to all kinds of travelers with unmatched connectivity across the United States.”

Scheduled Flights and Growing The Network

Starting from May 21, 2025, with two daily year-round flights, the Embraer 170 will land in Pennsylvania and South Carolina on separate scheduled flights, departing from Chicago.

From Chicago to Hawai’i, the service will begin on Dec. 17, 2025, flying with a Boeing 787-7 daily until the spring season – Mar. 27, 2027.

Launching a daily service, year-round from a Boeing 737, on Apr. 17, 2026, scheduled services from LAX will run two flights to Ohio and Washington, D.C.

Enhancing their national network in their largest hubs, American Airlines now offers over 180 destinations for their passengers and residents with competitive access.

Znotins also celebrates the growing network and the difference it makes for customers:

“Air travel is about more than just flying from one place to another; it’s a symphony of travelers eagerly looking forward to seeing friends and family, crossing off bucket-list vacations and making a difference with face-to-face business meetings,”
