European Aircraft manufacturer Airbus will acquire a majority stake in Bombardier CSeries Programme on 1st July 2018.

As a result deal will see Airbus take a 50.1% majority share in the CSeries programme. First of all Bombardier will fund the cash shortfall up to a maximum of $225 million during the second half of 2018, up to $350 million in 2019. Yet the programme head office and primary final assembly will remain in Montreal Mirabel.

“The strength of the entire Airbus organization will be behind the CSeries. Not only will that enable this outstanding aircraft to fulfil its market potential, but we are convinced the addition of the CSeries to our overall aircraft product offering brings significant value to Airbus, our customers and shareholders,” Airbus CEO Tom Enders

Further more the deal gives Airbus two products in the 130-150 seating market. Most noteworthy the CS300 & A319neo. Further more the CS100 will extend Airbus’ products to the 100 seat market as well.
