Latvian airline airBaltic and Germany’s Lufthansa have expanded their existing codeshare agreement on transit flights between Riga and Frankfurt. From 17 December, Lufthansa will put its LH code on airBaltic flights between Riga and Frankfurt, while airBaltic will allocate its BT code on Lufthansa flights travelling the same route.

Improve Transit Connectivity
The expanded codeshare agreement will improve Latvia’s connectivity by linking it to Lufthana’s substantial global network through Frankfurt, one of the continent’s key transit hubs.
Speaking about the expansion, Mantas Vrubliauskas, VP Network Management at airBaltic commented:
Since launching our codeshare cooperation with Lufthansa in 2020, we have steadily expanded the opportunities it creates for our passengers. This next step strengthens our shared commitment to making global travel more seamless and accessible. By opening even more gateways to the world, we continue to reinforce our role as the leading airline in the Baltics and contribute to Latvia’s growing international presence, business potential, and tourism appeal.
Tickets are available to book on both carrier’s websites.

What is a Codeshare Agreement?
A codeshare agreement is a collaboration between airlines where each carrier sells seats on the same flights. Creating the impression that an airline has a more extensive global network, it expands scope without incurring additional operating costs. Airlines generally share revenue on the tickets sold. The main benefit of codeshare agreements for passengers is a more seamless transfer experience.
