Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines have agreed to continue their air cargo transportation partnership, signing a new agreement in Ankara. On the 29th of November, both airlines signed the agreement under the witness of Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, and the Vice President of Turkey, Cevdet Yılmaz.
Benefits Of The Air Cargo Transportation Partnership
The new agreement has been said to bring additional long-term benefits to Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines, and their air cargo customers. These benefits will include enhancing operations in cargo transport and conducting specific research to enable the potential launch of an air cargo joint venture, plus, they’ll be providing customers with a much larger and faster network with enhanced direct flights to an increasing range of destinations and frequencies.
Both airlines have agreed that combining their resources will aid in supporting increased efficiency in using their aircraft and will help further boost their global position for air cargo transportation.
Positive Comments From Both Companies
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, Dang Ngoc Hoa, said:
“The cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines was established on the basis of mutual benefit. Turkish Airlines will benefit from expanding the scale of its transportation network to previously limited areas such as Oceania and Northeast Asia through the advantages offered by Vietnam’s central geographical location as a transit point. Furthermore, by using freighters and connecting to Turkish Airlines’ global network of 345 destinations around the world, Vietnam Airlines will be able to significantly expand its scale. We hope this cooperation will facilitate Vietnam’s position and advancement towards becoming one of the leading logistics centres in the Asia-Pacific region.”
The CEO of Turkish Airlines, Bilal Ekşi, also commented at the signing ceremony, saying:
“Asia is one of our most important markets. Our efforts to increase our presence on this prominent continent continue unabated with our competent teams and R&D activities. In an era where global aviation is shifting from West to East, these efforts are even more meaningful. I hope the collaboration we have started with Vietnam Airlines, currently focused on our air cargo brand Turkish Cargo, but planned to be developed in different categories in the future, will be beneficial and fruitful for both countries and both flag carriers.”
The Ongoing Partnership
The news of their signing highlights the significance and strength of the two national airlines’ relationship. It was only in June of this year that both airlines signed a codeshare partnership to provide more flexible and diverse flight choices for passengers flying on both routes between Turkey and Vietnam and in neighbouring areas.
Furthermore, passengers can now make reservations and purchase tickets on both Vietnam Airlines and Turkish Airlines’ websites to fly between Istanbul – Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and between Hanoi – Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City – Da Nang; destinations that are not only extremely popular tourist areas in both countries but are equally important social and economic hubs.
