The U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has launched a new service that allows eligible TSA PreCheck members to enter the secure area of an airport without a boarding pass. Currently, Gateside by TSA PreCheck is available at 13 airports across the United States and can be used to greet or accompany passengers at the boarding gate.
Gateside by TSA PreCheck Launched at 13 US Airports
Gateside by TSA PreCheck provides a convenient way for authorised members to enter secure terminal areas such as gate areas, restaurants and stores. Members can use this service to say goodbye to friends and family, welcome arriving passengers or meet friends during long layovers.
The participating airports include Mesa Gateway Airport, John Glenn Columbus International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, Indianapolis International Airport, Harry Reid International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, San Diego International Airport, Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, Will Rogers International Airport, Eppley Airfield and Salt Lake City International Airport.
This programme offers another way for some families and friends to spend more time at the airport.
Visitors Must Apply in Advance to Pass Through Security
Visitors must submit an application online using their Known Traveler Number (KTN) one to three days before their planned arrival. The application is free of charge, but there is no guarantee of approval.
Approved visitors must present an acceptable form of identification and complete the TSA PreCheck security screening process. The pass is valid for one calendar day and allows multiple entries and exits during that time.
Children can accompany an approved adult if they are included in the application. However, the participating airports may have restrictions on the number of daily visitors or limit access during peak hours.
