Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has made high-speed onboard connectivity available on the airline’s European flights with the installation of Starlink satellite internet across its entire Airbus A320neo fleet. The airline first introduced Starlink connectivity in March and has now finished installing the service across the aircraft type, allowing SAS passengers to work, stream content, browse the internet and stay connected while in the air.
Enhanced Connectivity Across Europe
All 81 Airbus A320neo aircraft are now equipped with Starlink, accounting for approximately 70% of SAS’ total fleet, which operates a large proportion of flights across Scandinavia and Europe. With the rollout now complete, the Airbus A320 neo has become the first aircraft type in the airline to be fully equipped with Starlink technology.
SAS said the installations were carried out alongside normal flight operations, with each aircraft undergoing installation, testing and approval before returning to commercial service.
Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, said passengers increasingly expect reliable connectivity when travelling and added that the rollout provides customers with greater flexibility in how they spend their time onboard.
Further Rollout Planned
Following the completion of the A320neo programme, SAS is preparing to expand Starlink installations across additional aircraft types, with preparations already underway and installations expected before the end of 2026.
Starlink uses a network of low-Earth-orbit satellites to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet connectivity. Airlines worldwide have increasingly adopted the technology as demand grows for faster and more reliable onboard Wi-Fi services.
The milestone comes during SAS’ 80th anniversary year and represents one of the carrier’s latest investments in improving the passenger experience across its network.
