Five hot meals will be served on Lufthansa’s Economy Class flights on short- and medium-haul routes starting September 2026. The hot meal service is complemented by the pre-select food offering in Business Class on long-haul routes. In both Economy Class and Business Class, food orders can be placed between four weeks and 24 hours before the flight’s departure. As such, Lufthansa is allowing passengers more flexibility in ordering food options and additional personalization strategies.
About the “Onboard Delights” catering offer
The “Onboard Delights” catering offer is available exclusively via pre-order, thus catering to customer needs. As a result, the ready availability of hot meals on continental journeys with a flight time longer than two hours include: beef roulade with potato dumplings, chicken teriyaki, tortellini in tomato sauce with zucchini, “Die Echte” currywurst and cheeseburger from “Hans im Gluck”.
These five meals help provide Lufthansa’s customers with choice and variety in international cuisine, thus enhancing customer experience. This demonstrates a new-and-improved Economy Class offering on Lufthansa.
New Offering in Lufthansa’s Business Class
To keep up with its diverse customer base, Lufthansa has started a new service for Business Class passengers on long-haul flights. As a result, since August 2023, Lufthansa has allowed customers to pre-select their main course on flights between Frankfurt and Munich.
From 1 September 2026, Lufthansa’s service will include the majority of long-haul flights returning to Germany. So, passengers benefit from a broad choice of culinary options. Starting from four weeks to up to 24 hours before departure, passengers have the choice of choosing six main courses instead of the previous three.
