Lufthansa’s new Allegris First Class Suite has received the 2026 Red Dot Award for Product Design, marking another milestone for the airline’s premium cabin overhaul. The award recognises innovation and high-quality design across multiple industries and is considered one of the most prestigious design competitions worldwide.

A new standard for premium travel
The suite was designed to focus on privacy, comfort and personalisation. Each suite includes ceiling-high walls, sliding doors and adjustable seating that can be converted into a bed. Lufthansa has also introduced temperature-controlling seats, wireless charging and large entertainment screens as part of the new design.
One of the standout features is the “Suite Plus”, a double suite designed for two passengers travelling together. The centre suite allows seats to transform into a shared bed, giving travellers what Lufthansa describes as a “private room above the clouds”.
Caroline Drischel, senior vice president of Customer Journey at the Lufthansa Group, explained the aim of the programme:
“With Allegris, we set a high standard from the very beginning: to create a flight experience that combines design, comfort, and individuality at the highest level. The Red Dot Award and more than two million satisfied passengers who have already experienced Allegris confirm that we have succeeded.”

Recognition from a leading design award
The Red Dot Award is one of the world’s best-known international competitions for product and industrial design. Founded in Germany in the 1950s, the awards recognise products that stand out for innovation, functionality, aesthetics and user experience. Each year, an independent jury of design experts reviews thousands of entries from companies across industries, including technology, automotive, fashion and transport.
Lufthansa says the award highlights the airline’s focus on combining luxury, privacy and modern technology within its new product.

Part of Lufthansa’s wider transformation
The Allegris project forms part of Lufthansa’s long-term strategy to strengthen its premium offering as competition among global airlines increases. The new interiors are currently being introduced on Airbus A350 aircraft operating from Munich to destinations that include New York, Shanghai, Bengaluru and Chicago.
Lufthansa has invested billions of euros into the programme, which includes upgrades across all classes. The airline says the aim is to provide passengers with a more personalised and modern long-haul experience across all price points.
