Perth Airport (PER) seeks to continue its growth. For the first time in its history, the airport surpassed 18 million passengers in the year 2025.

Perth Airport’s Growth

The number of passengers that visited the airport typically grows 6.6% annually. In 2025, international visitors numbers rose significantly; compared to previous years, international passengers flow reached growth of 12.3%. Domestically, Perth Airport saw a growth of 4.3%.

The rise in travellers coming in and out of Perth demonstrates that Australia has become a largely sought-after holiday and business destination. As a result of the large demand, the airport currently seeks to enhance and modernise its infrastructure.

During the event “Routes Asia 2026”, Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer, Kate Holsgrove, has expressed that the airport is strengthening the One Airport program alongside Bechtel. The multibillion dollar scheme aims to expand a new parallel runway, the amenities in the international terminal, and build its first airport hotel.

Perth Airport’s New Routes

Another area the airport is focusing on expanding is route development. Since Routes Asia, 2025, Perth Airport has launched new international flights. The new services include a Qantas nonstop flight to Auckland, New Zealand, and Johannesburg, South Africa. Moreover, Cathay Pacific Airways’ service to Hong Kong has moved from daily flights to twice a day.

Other services were launched or increased in frequency. China Southern Airlines has begun a nonstop flight linking Perth with Guangzhou; the airline is contractually obligated to serve the route for a whole year.

As Perth Airport seeks to continue growth, flyers can expect modernised infrastructure as well as new international flights.

What do you think of the airport’s plan? Do you think it will unveil new plans during Routes Asia 2026? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
