In winter 2026-27, Air Canada will launch services to Tenerife and to several destinations in Latin America. The flights will use new-generation Airbus A321XLR aircraft.

Expansion to Latin America
Air Canada plans to expand into the Latin American market. The Canadian population is increasingly seeking the region as a holiday destination, leading the airline to expand given the growing demand.
The expansion to Latin America adds four new destinations:
- Roatán, Honduras
- Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic,
- Mérida and Mazatlán, Mexico.
These flights will be carried by A321XLRs and are scheduled to begin late October 2026 until April 27, 2027.

Expansion to Tenerife
Regarding the carrier’s expansion to Tenerife, the nonstop service will depart either from Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL), or Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), reaching Tenerife South Airport (TFS). This will be the only nonstop flight linking North America to Tenerife.

Impact on Tourism
These new services most likely will significantly impact tourism. Air Canada has added these destinations given the demand of Canadian citizens. Moreover, people from Latin America and Tenerife will now have more opportunity to visit the giant of North America.
Regarding the economic sector, the flights may influence the destinations’ economy. The increase in tourism will enhance the sector’s economy, through bringing the possibility of investments and foreign capital, as well as the expenses of the traveller’s themselves.
