A man has been banned from KLM Royal Dutch Airlines for 30 years following repeated offences, including attempting to illegally board multiple flights. He has also previously been banned from the airline for allegedly assaulting a member of staff.

The incident that led to the ban
The ban was issued after the man attempted to illegally board a KLM flight at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport without authorisation in December 2025.
The incident occurred on Friday Dec. 26, with the Dutch Public Prosecution Service (DPPS) reporting in a press release that the man arrived at the airport with a valid ticket, but attempted to board a different flight by climbing over a barrier to bypass airport security.
The DPPS also said in a statement:
“The suspect’s behaviour was observed by security, after which the suspect was removed from the plane. The suspect had previously attempted unsuccessfully to board another aircraft in this manner.”
Reportedly, the incident also forced passengers to be evacuated for a second security check, which delayed the flight by 90 minutes.

A repeat offender
This is far from the first incident regarding this passenger. He was previously handed a five-year ban by the airline in 2020 after striking an airport desk employee. In September 2025, he was detained by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee after he attempted to board a KLM flight to Curaçao without a valid ticket. KLM has not yet specified what airport these incidents occurred at.
The airline has spoken out about the passenger’s ban in a statement, saying:
“At KLM, we welcome all passengers on board. At the same time, we expect everyone to treat our colleagues and fellow travellers with respect. Safety and well‑being are our highest priorities, and we take any form of misconduct very seriously. We are disappointed that the situation escalated to this point.”
As a result of his latest offence, the unnamed passenger will not be permitted to fly with KLM until 2055. This extends to Transavia, another airline that is a part of the KLM Group. Additionally, following a decision by the Public Prosecution Service, he also was fined €750, ordered to serve 24 hours of community service and will be under probation for two years.
