EgyptAir has received its first of 16 Airbus A350-900 aircraft at Cairo International Airport, marking the airline’s step in modernising its fleet.

EgyptAir has taken delivery of its first of 16 Airbus A350-900 on order, becoming the launch operator for the type in North Africa. The A350-900 arrived on a flight powered by a blend of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), reflecting EgyptAir’s move toward more environmentally friendly operations.
The A350 will support the airline’s long-haul fleet modernisation and network expansion with new non-stop routes to key destinations including Los Angles in the United States several cities and North and East Asia, from its Cairo hub.
The aircraft features a two-class configuration, comprising 30 Business Class suites with direct aisle access and 310 Economy Class seats. The unique, latest generation Airspace cabin is designed to improve the long-haul experience for both passenger and crew through greater comfort.
EgyptAir currently operates an Airbus fleet of eight A320neos, seven A321neos and 11 A330 Family aircraft, including five A330-200P2F.
EgyptAir’s brand new Airbus A350 flies from Toulouse
EgyptAir first ordered the Airbus A350 in 2019, the jets are intended to replace its ageing Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s.
The new aircraft is designed to reduce fuel consumption, carbon emissions and noise levels, in line with global sustainability standards and the Egyptian government’s vision for greener air transport.
At the Airbus factory in Toulouse, France, a delivery ceremony was held which was attended by EgyptAir Chairman Ahmed Adel, Airbus International executive, Wouter van Wersch, executive vice-president of Airbus International, and representatives from Rolls-Royce and Panasonic.
The A350 is the world’s most modern widebody aircraft, designed to fly up to 9,700 nautical miles. The aircraft includes state-of-the-art technologies and uses the latest generation of Rolls-Royce engines.
The new EgyptAir Airbus A350, carrying the registration SU-GGE, took off from Toulouse around 11:00 yesterday morning, and touched down in Cairo at 15:51 local time, according to Flightradar24 data.
