Vietjet Air is set to end the year with its greatest fleet expansion to date, taking delivery of 22 aircraft this December as it prepares for surging travel demand ahead of the 2026 Lunar New Year. The new additions include several Airbus and Boeing jets, alongside two wet-leased COMAC aircrafts for Côn Đảo services. Amid global aircraft shortages and supply chain delays, the move strengthens Vietnam’s operations and expands its international network.

A321neo ACF Leads Vietjet’s December Fleet Expansion

Vietjet’s newest arrival, an Airbus A321neo ACF registered VN-A580, is among the first aircraft to enter service this Christmas. It is one of seven new-generation Airbus aircraft joining the Vietnam fleet and will accommodate higher traffic across its busiest domestic routes.

A further nine Boeing jets and four additional wet-leased aircraft are planned to follow in Vietjet’s expansion. One of the additions is confirmed to be an A320 from BBN Airlines Thailand.

Moreover, the airline plans to resume the wet-lease of two COMAC aircraft from Chengdu Airlines to continue serving flights to Côn Đảo from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. A route that requires this type of aircraft due to its relatively short runway and smaller infrastructure.

New Ho Chi Minh City–Manila Service

Vietjet will initiate flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Manila starting Dec. 19 to meet year-end travel demand. Departures from Tân Sơn Nhat International Airport are scheduled at 11:05 p.m., arriving at Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 2:50 a.m. local time. Return flights leave Manila at 3:45 a.m. and land in Ho Chi Minh City at 5:30 a.m.

To celebrate the launch, the low-cost airline is offering thousands of zero-đong tickets (excluding taxes and fees) during its daily “golden hours” from noon till 2 p.m. Furthermore, Eco passengers will receive an additional 20 kilograms of free checked baggage.
