Cathay Pacific is breathing new life into Hong Kong’s aviation heritage with an ambitious transformation of the Kai Tak Sports Park’s West Bridge. Once home to the city’s legendary Kai Tak Airport, the site is now being reimagined as an interactive space where history meets innovation. As the exclusive Founding Travel Partner of the Kai Tak Sports Park, Cathay is inviting visitors to rediscover Hong Kong’s aviation story through immersive design, digital storytelling, and a sense of nostalgia that bridges generations.
Connecting Past and Present
The newly branded West Bridge serves as more than a walkway, it’s a journey through time. Designed to connect the Sung Wong Toi MTR station with the state-of-the-art Kai Tak Stadium, the bridge transforms an ordinary commute into a sensory experience, stretching close to 100 metres. Through visual projections, archival imagery, and interactive displays, visitors can trace Cathay’s evolution from its early days at the former airport to its present role as a global airline. The installation also includes the “World Flyer” exhibit, which recreates elements of the old Kai Tak terminal, allowing guests to step back into the golden age of aviation while exploring Hong Kong’s transformation into a global hub.
Elevating Culture, Sports, and Travel
Cathay’s partnership with Kai Tak Sports Park extends beyond preserving history, it’s about shaping the city’s future. The airline will support major international events at the venue, including the 2025 Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, marking the first time the tournament is held at the new stadium. By merging sports, culture, and travel, Cathay’s initiative strengthens Hong Kong’s position as a world-class destination for global events, while celebrating the spirit of progress that has defined both the airline and the city for decades.
