Bristol Airport’s Consultation To Modify Runway Features

After the airport’s revelation of their Masterplan for improvements by 2040, a recent consultation to revise current runway lighting features has been released, with focus on modernisation of standing features to meet tourism demand to and from the region.

In order for the operational sector of the airport to exist safely following amendments and improvements, the airport will need to relocate the current approach lighting and install additional safety features.

The plan, since it has been set, ensures all safety measures align with the Civil Aviation Authority standards.

Operating Safely For Passengers and Residents

The proposal involves moving the runway across the common at the airport, which is an opened space and communal area. Passengers are encouraged to take the bridleway route which will be paved for safe travel.

“While only small areas of the Common would be required for the lighting, we realise how important the open space is to local people, and so we are consulting with those with rights on the Common, users of the Common and local residents.” said a Bristol Airport spokesman.
