From left to right, the tails belong to Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). The Air France tail features a design with blue and red stripes and a small circle of yellow stars. The KLM tail is white with the airline's blue logo, which includes a crown symbol. The SAS tail is dark blue with the airline's white logo.

Air France-KLM and SAS launched a sharecode scheme for flights to the U.S. departing from Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo, offering better connectivity for travellers.

Expanded Codeshare Agreement Enhances Travel Experience and Loyalty Benefits

Air France-KLM and SAS have announced a move to enhance their commercial partnership, in order to improve connectivity between Scandinavia and the US on Sept 23.

This move aimed to enhance the travel experience and to reinforce the commitment between partners. In particular, to offer better convenience and improved loyalty benefits to the customers.

The major change in the deepened partnership is the sharecode agreement.

With the move, Air France is expected to add its code to SAS-operated non-stop transatlantic flights, in order to provide seamless access to a wide range of destinations across the United States via the key Scandinavian hub for travellers.

While travelling on these codeshare routes, travellers can earn miles and experience points (XP) toward their Flying Blue status.

The extended corporation, built on the previous collaboration between Air France-KLM and SAS, was initiated in 2024.

Earlier this year, SAS added its code on various international flights departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam Schiphol airports, operated by Air France and KLM.

Another codeshare scheme within the European network was also launched last year.

New Routes Include Major U.S. Cities from Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo

There are various routes expected to be included in the agreement.

For instance, the flights from Copenhagen International Airport (CPH) to Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York-Newark (EWR), New York-JFK (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), and Washington, D.C. (IAD) are included in the agreement.

Apart from that, the flight from Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) to New York-Newark (EWR) and Miami (MIA), and the flight from Oslo Airport (OSL) to New York-Newark (EWR), New York-JFK (JFK) are also included.

What are your thoughts on the expanded partnership between Air France-KLM and SAS? Will these new transatlantic routes make your travel plans more convenient? Share your opinion and leave a comment below!
