AirBaltic are continuing to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Baltic Way by naming its Airbus A220-300 fleet after Baltic cities. The airline is proud to have named nearly 30 aircraft so far, with another 20 to be revealed soon.

Celebrating The Baltic Way
Following a public vote held in August 2024, airBaltic is continuing to name its Airbus A220-300 fleet after Baltic cities and towns. The contest celebrated 35 years of the Baltic Way – a successful peaceful protest where two million people created a human chain across the Baltic states and demanded independence.
airBaltic revealed the first three aircraft at the start of August 2025, named after the Baltic capitals: Rīga, Tallinn, and Vilnius. The aircraft highlighted their national pride, featuring the colours of each country’s flag on their special livery. This unique project aims to boost the culture and history of the Baltic states, encouraging both local and international travellers to explore the areas.
Since then, airBaltic has named 28 aircraft after Baltic cities and towns. This consists of ten Latvian places, 9 Estonian stops, and 9 Lithuanian destinations. The remaining 20 selected cities will be revealed in due course, currently being randomly assigned to their respective aircraft.
Elīna Prāve, Vice President of Marketing at airBaltic, has commented:
“Already 28 of airBaltic Airbus A220-300 planes now proudly carry the names of the Baltic cities! It is a way to highlight each town and encourage travellers to discover their unique character. Each aircraft is also a flying ambassador, carrying the names of these cities across our extensive network of more than 80 destinations in Europe and beyond.”

- From Latvia – Aizpute, Alūksne, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Olaine, Ogre, Rēzekne, Rīga, Ventspils, Viļaka
