In a bid to get the conversation going on improving airport infrastructure and boost international and regional air travel, Cochin International Airport (CIAL) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organised a two-day aviation summit called the Kerala Aviation Summit 2025, beginning on August 25, 2025.

Kerala Aviation Summit 2025: Key Highlights

This summit was meant to discuss the need to improve airport infrastructure, increase international flight connectivity, promote regional air travel, and ensure these goals are achieved through sustainable practices. This two-day summit was attended by policymakers and industry members from the Indian aviation industry.

The main focus of this summit was on sustainable growth, along with the integration of aviation, tourism and logistics. According to experts, these sectors can together elevate the traveller experience and attract more international tourists. CIAL’s MD, S Suhas, said:

“The biggest achievement of the summit was the realisation of Kerala’s immense untapped potential. The discussions will act as a stimulator for the aviation sector. The CIAL will provide all necessary support for the aviation industry and Kerala’s economic growth through infrastructure development and policy making. We will take measures to implement the recommendations that emerged during the summit. The suggestions and recommendations at the summit will act as a roadmap for the state’s aviation policy making.”

In addition to this, the summit’s slogan “Giving Wings to Kerala” asserted the goals and aims of the state’s aviation industry. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said:

“Kerala Aviation Summit 2025 will serve as a platform to attract investment, foster innovation and lay out the state’s vision of becoming a global aviation and logistics hub. Kerala is actively promoting the aviation sector, and initiatives like seaplanes will boost the tourism sector, which accounts for 10 per cent of the state’s GDP. There should be efforts to make air travel more inclusive and popular. CIAL, which has been a model for airports in the country, has a key role to play in achieving the state’s vision of becoming a civil aviation hub,”

The Vision and goals of this summit are set to be the roadmap for the future growth of the state’s aviation industry.

What were the other highlights of the summit?

The Chairman of the Cochin International Airport inaugurated the new Airport Health Office (APHO) building at the CIAL. He asserted that the APHO building is a crucial addition to Kerala’s public health sector, which will provide a better quality of disease surveillance, quarantine and passenger safety as the Cochin airport is one of the busiest airports in the state.

Moreover, the APHO is specifically designed to meet the challenges of future public health threats in the state.
