What’s new?

Announced on LinkedIn, Astral Aviation has confirmed the exciting new addition. With a 52-ton payload and extended range capabilities, the new addition supports Astral’s strategy to increase capacity and serve longer routes through a process of modernisation.

The Boeing 767-300F, secured through Flight Lease Capital Management and partners Jetran and Xtreme Aviation, offers enhanced efficiency and versatility. The airline stated:

“We are thrilled to announce the arrival of our newly dry-leased Boeing 767-300F (MSN 24146 / Reg 5Y SVR), marking another milestone in Astral Aviation’s commitment to expanding our cargo capabilities and enhancing service reliability across our network. The 767-300F – a proven, efficient, and versatile freighter—will strengthen our ability to serve key markets with increased payload capacity, range, and operational flexibility.”

Astral’s future plans

The airline’s current fleet boasts a Boeing 767-200F and a Boeing 737-400F, with plans to add a Boeing 737-800F and a further two Boeing 777 aircraft, pending Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval.

However, their future is not solely in expansion, as they also plan to phase out several aircraft to maintain stability and further consolidate their mission of modernisation. Amongst the aircraft being phased out are the aging Boeing 757Fs, Boeing 727-200Fs, and McDonnell Douglas DC9s. The Boeing 767-300F will bring a welcome change and will be a significant upgrade on the 757F and 727F respectively.

With this clear statement of intent, Astral’s future will be one to watch.
