In line with previous initiatives, EgyptAir, the national flag carrier of Egypt, has announced a strategic partnership with the SITA, a global leader in air transport technology, to modernise its network infrastructure. The initiative aims to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen resilience, and improve passenger services, positioning EgyptAir for sustained growth in a competitive aviation landscape with Egypt as a regional aviation hub.

Modernising connectivity

The partnership leverages SITA’s advanced connectivity solutions, SITA Connect Go, to deliver scalable, cloud-native infrastructure tailored to EgyptAir’s needs. This upgrade will provide increased bandwidth, robust security, and enhanced automation, ensuring seamless airport connectivity and infrastructure protection. Additionally, EgyptAir will implement SITA’s Community Departure Control System (DCS) to streamline ground operations, reduce costs, and transition from legacy systems. These improvements are expected to enhance network visibility and mitigate operational risks, supporting the airline’s plans for expansion.

Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman & CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, said:

“This partnership with SITA is a cornerstone of our digital transformation strategy. By adopting cutting-edge solutions, we are enhancing our communication systems to support growth in tourism and travel, ensuring operational excellence and superior passenger experience.”

The agreement was signed in Cairo by Eng. Yasser Omran, Head of the Information Sector at EgyptAir, and Housssam Dakroub, Direction for North & French-speaking Africa at SITA, marking a significant step in reinforcing Egypt’s aviation sector as a regional hub. They hope that by integrating SITA’s global expertise and network spanning over 200 countries, EgyptAir can bolster its competitiveness and passenger experience at Egyptian airports.

Consolidate Egypt as Regional Aviation Hub

Selim Bouri, President for the Middle East and Africa at SITA, emphasised the broader implications of the partnership:

“Airlines across the Middle East and Africa are facing a period of rapid change. Passenger demand is surging, airports are getting busier, and the pressure to operate more efficiently, securely, and sustainably has never been greater. Against this backdrop, EgyptAir is making a bold move to transform its network infrastructure, giving the airline the speed, resilience, and agility it needs to keep pace with market growth and rising traveler expectations. By embracing next-generation connectivity, EgyptAir is future-proofing its operations and strengthening its ability to compete in an increasing dynamic regional aviation landscape.”

This collaboration aligns with Egypt’s national goals in advancing its civil aviation and to cement its position as a pivotal regional player.
