A Bombardier CRJ-900 en route from Minneapolis to Toronto has crashed at Toronto Pearson Airport. The plane was operated by regional airline, Endeavor Air. The Airport reported an active incident on X at 7:57pm GMT on Monday, February 17. All of its operations have been shut down, and emergency crews are on-site. All 80 passengers on board have been evacuated, with the circumstances for the crash still unknown. This is the latest aviation crash following the death of two people in a plane crash at Georgia’s Covington Municipal Airport.
The airplane was revealed to be on its roof after landing at Pearson Airport.
Multiple people are reported to be injured. Toronto Pearson on X tweeted:
‘Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for’.
The crash comes just eight hours after a tweet from the airport detailing the ‘frigid temperatures and high winds’ in the area. Reports of a snowstorm led to over 22cm of snow, causing flights to be delayed over the weekend. Total snowfall over the past week has brought 63cm of snow across the Toronto area. The plane was also seen being promptly sprayed with foam to avoid a fire. CNN reports :
‘Canadian authorities would be the ones to investigate the crash as it happened in Canadian territory’.

Multiple injuries and emergency response
Authorities confirmed that 18 passengers suffered from injuries while three remained in critical condition including a four-year-old kid. In addition, two seriously injured travellers were transported to SunnyBrook Health Sciences Center and St. Michael’s Hospital while the child was transferred to The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. Delta airlines stated that its incident report team was deployed to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) Monday evening:
“to support efforts surrounding Delta Connection flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, that was involved in a single-aircraft accident at YYZ around 2:15 p.m. ET and include especially trained Delta Care Team representatives who will provide support for customers and their loved ones.”
Endeavor Air’s CEO, Jim Graham, was also heading to Toronto to work with investigators. In a statement Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed gratitude towards the first respondents and those who helped get the passengers to the safety.
