Pegasus Airlines, Europe’s 8th largest commercial carrier, has announced a new direct flight connection between Denmark’s Aarhus Airport and Antalya, Turkey. Set to launch on May 9, the new route marks Pegasus Airlines’ first venture into serving Scandinavia’s fifth-largest metropolitan area. This new connection promises to open up new opportunities for both business and leisure travellers.

Service Overview

The new route will be operating twice weekly, with departures from Aarhus Airport every Monday and Friday. This service aims to accommodate the significant demand for travel between Denmark and Turkey. The new connection will not only be catering to holiday-makers heading to the popular Turkish Riviera, but it will serve the large Turkish community in Denmark visiting friends and family, too. With over 11,000 people with a Turkish background in the Aarhus area, the service will create traffic both ways. Moreover, the market potential of this route is also made apparent in current analyses. The analyses show a large portion of passengers from Denmark’s Jutland peninsula travel all the way to Copenhagen or Hamburg airports for flights to Turkey. The new service is tapping into this market and offering a more convenient option. In doing so, Pegasus Airlines aims to provide a more accessible travel experience for the region’s 1.3 million inhabitants.

Aarhus Airport Perspective

The CEO of Aarhus Airport, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership, stating,

“It is a great pleasure to present a new airline at Aarhus Airport. The new collaboration comes in the slipstream of the route development conference, Routes, in Aarhus last spring, where we forged closer ties with Pegasus Airlines and other airlines. The direct route between Antalya and Aarhus is long sought after by tour operators, holidaymakers and people with Turkish roots, who already know Pegasus Airlines for their high service and low prices. We expect the route to be very well received in the Aarhus region.”

It sounds like the new service between Aarhus and Antalya will be successful. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments
