airBaltic Adds Airbus A220 Full-Flight Simulator

airBaltic continues to enhance its training infrastructure with the introduction of a second airBaltic Airbus A220 full-flight simulator training capabilities by introducing a second simulator at its Training Center in Riga. This major expansion will play an important role in satisfying the growing demand for pilot training as the airline develops its fleet and expands its operations.

airBaltic Expands Airbus A220 Pilot Training Capacity

Today, operating close to 50 aircraft, airBaltic is well on target with its ambition of reaching 100 Airbus A220-300 aircraft in operation by 2030. The addition of this second airBaltic Airbus A220 full-flight simulator will enable the airline to training capabilities. Its expanding team of pilots to the highest safety and operational standards, ensuring efficiency as its fleet grows. Equipped with it, the airline will better prepare its growing cadre of pilots. They maintain their qualifications to the highest possible standards concerning safety and operation quality.

The second Airbus A220 full-flight simulator cements airBaltic’s position as the leading training hub in Northern Europe. Indeed, airBaltic is the only airline in the region with two such simulators. Offering a competitive advantage in the field of pilot education. Similar simulators are located in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France, further underlining airBaltic’s unique leadership in Airbus A220 training within Northern Europe.

Airbus A220 Full-Flight Simulator Use for Pilot and Crew Training

It will offer up to 6,000 hours of training annually, including recurrent and initial pilot training, as well as technical maintenance. The simulator expansion also supports the airBaltic Pilot Academy, which is currently training 138 students. As well, advances several courses such as the Multi-Crew Cooperation course.

Along with internal use, the new simulator will be available for rent to other airlines. This will also give airBaltic an opportunity to increase revenues while serving the interests of the greater aviation community.

The Airbus are equipped with the latest technology: the CAE7000XR Series FFS, featuring the CAE Tropos 6000XR visual system for the highest level of realism in pilot training.
