Low-cost air carrier easyJet will expand pilot training facilities at London Gatwick, Milan and Amsterdam.
The expansion will develop easyJet’s partnership with state-of-the-art training provider CAE, which sits at the forefront of flight simulation innovation.
Alongside existing aircraft base and fleet expansions, the improved pilot training facilities aim to support easyJet’s growth across the UK and Europe.
What does easyJet’s training expansion entail?
By winter 2025, easyJet will have two new full-flight simulators at CAE’s Gatwick centre and one additional simulator in Milan. New pilot training at CAE Amsterdam will include two easyJet-exclusive simulators.
The CAE facilities will operate for up to 20 hours daily, training over 7000 easyJet pilots annually. The centres will offer training for newly qualified pilots, recurrent training for experienced pilots and command upgrade courses required for Senior First Officers to become Captains.
easyJet’s Chief Operating Officer David Morgan said:
By continuing to utilise advanced technologies, we are ensuring our thousands of pilots across Europe are trained to the global industry leading standards we are recognised for.
CAE Division President of Commercial Aviation Michel Azar-Hmouda said:
We’re delighted to extend and expand our longstanding partnership with easyJet and to support their growth.
He added:
Through our state-of-the-art facilities and tailored training solutions, we’re shaping the future of aviation training while reaffirming our commitment to innovation, safety, and operational excellence.
With easyJet announcing a 34% increase in year-on-year profit today, it hopes that this latest strategic initiative will advance its goal of sustainably generating over £1 billion annual pre-tax profit.
