Is the future of the A380 is jeopardy?
The Airbus A380 took its first flight on Wednesday 27th April 2005. Is the future of the worlds largest passenger aircraft looking bleak?
Due to the rise in popularity of smaller more fuel efficient long haul aircraft. Such as the Airbus A350 & Boeing 787 Dreamliner. As a result some airlines have cancelled there orders of the A380. Most noteworthy would be Virgin Atlantic who cancelled there order in favor of the Boeing 787 & Airbus A350.
While Emirates in January 2018 announced 20 firm orders and 16 options signed. Furthermore ANA airlines have 3 A380 set for delivery in 2019 the first for its fleet. Since Emirates has only firm orders for the A380 in the past 2 years is the beginning of the end for the A380?
Whereas the Airbus A350 has 854 firm orders from 45 Customers.
Furthermore the Boeing 787 has over 1,300 firm orders.
In conclusion the future of the A380 is looking worrying with airlines turning away from the super jumbo in favor of the more efficient A350 & B787.
